Primary Function
This is a full-time role on a one-year fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension. Based at our Olympic Park, Sydney offices, working hours will generally be in the afternoon and evening, depending on livestream production schedules.
The Art Director for live broadcasts will be responsible for overseeing the visual aspects of live product events, demos, and interactive broadcasts. This role will involve leading the creative direction, guiding design teams, and ensuring all visual elements align with the brand's identity while enhancing the live broadcast experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in digital design, live broadcast environments, and a strong understanding of visual storytelling.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead and direct the visual creative vision for live product broadcasts, ensuring all design elements align with brand identity, product messaging, and the overall event strategy.
- Collaborate with product, broadcast, and creative teams to conceptualise and develop design assets for live broadcasts, including stage design, graphics, virtual sets, and interactive visuals.
- Shape the overall look and feel of the broadcast, ensuring that visual elements tell a cohesive and compelling story that enhances the audience’s experience and engagement.
- Supervise and mentor a team of designers, motion graphic artists, and visual specialists, providing guidance and feedback to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Oversee the creation of key design elements such as logos, lower thirds, transitions, on-screen graphics, and visual elements for product demonstrations and live interactions.
- Lead the design and development of broadcast set layouts, virtual environments, and any other visual components that will enhance the live product experience.
- Work closely with the technical director, producer, and other production staff to ensure the seamless integration of design elements within the live broadcast infrastructure.
- Ensure consistency in design across all visual assets, from on-air graphics to digital assets used in post-event promotions, while adhering to brand guidelines.
- Respond to feedback from product teams, stakeholders, and other departments to make adjustments and refine the creative direction as needed.
- Maintain high standards for visual quality, ensuring that all design elements are polished, visually compelling, and delivered on time.
- Participate in post-event debriefs to assess the visual impact of the broadcast and identify areas for improvement in future projects.

Qualifications and Experience
|
- 8+ years of experience in visual design, digital art direction, or live broadcast design, ideally with a background in product-related content or live events.
- Experience in creating immersive or interactive digital experiences for live broadcasts.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling and animation for broadcast (e.g., Cinema 4D, Blender).
- Familiarity with broadcast software and tools used in live production, such as vMix, Wirecast, or similar.
- Experience working with augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) elements in live broadcasts.
- Experience in digital product design or branded content development.
- Proven experience leading and managing creative teams in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to inspire and drive creative excellence.
- Expertise in visual design, typography, layout, colour theory, and composition, with a solid understanding of how to apply these principles to broadcast and live digital formats.
- Advanced knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), Cinema 4D, and/or other relevant tools for broadcast design.
- Understanding of the technical aspects of live broadcast production, including set design, camera angles, lighting, and how to optimise visual elements for on-air use.
