Job Description

As a Payroll Officer, your primary responsibility will be to process payroll for all employees across a fortnightly and monthly payroll cycle. This involves ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and on time, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate employee payroll records, providing payroll advice to employees, and people leadership, collaborating with the Finance and People & Culture team to process any other payments, terminations, employee changes, or reports where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, and manage the monthly and fortnightly end-to-end payroll including the administration of salary changes, payroll tax, workers’ compensation, award interpretation, FBT, PAYG, and superannuation for all employees.
  • Plan, and lead on-going maintenance of the payroll and leave systems.
  • Manage all first-point payroll queries for all employees, and management and escalate or provide answers where required.
  • Lead the Payroll Administration – document filing, setting up new starters, and any changes to employee payroll documentation.
  • Support the finance team with month end reporting for both internal and statutory reporting.
  • Manage and amend any payroll discrepancies in a timely manner, and work with the relevant people to ensure that discrepancies are resolved.
  • Manage the Cheil Payroll inbox, and reply to all queries within a reasonable time.
  • Prepare payroll and human resources information for data input and assist with checking, quality control, and maintenance of records to ensure accuracy, service quality, and data integrity
  • Provide a responsive, accurate client advisory service on payroll matters, resolve inquiries, and assist in identifying payroll errors and implementing corrective action where required
  • Liaising closely with the People and Culture team regarding new employees, changes to existing employees employment conditions and termination details are captured in a timely manner to enable the processing of accurate payroll
  • Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties where required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Intermediate-advanced excel skills (essential)
  • Experience using a number of different payroll systems (Elmo Payroll preferred)
  • Proven experience managing a pay run of up to 300 employees.
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Strong level of communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be a problem-solver, and able to search for an answer where it may not be known
